The IDF released updated statistics this evening (Thursday) on the number of rockets which have been fired at Israel by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization since the beginning of Operation Shield and Arrow earlier this week.

According to the IDF, 803 rockets had been fired at Israel as of 8 pm. The IDF had previously reported that 547 rockets had been fired at Israel as of 2:30 pm, meaning that over 250 rockets were fired in under six hours.

One person was killed and five people injured when a rocket struck a residential building in the city of Rehovot this evening.

The IDF further stated that 620 rockets crossed into Israeli airspace, while 152 rockets fell short in Gaza. 179 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome and David's Sling missile defense systems.

This evening, red alert sirens were activated in the cities of Rishon Lezion, Holon, and Bat Yam in central Israel. The Iron Dome system intercepted the rockets fired at these cities, and there was no damage.

The IDF said that it had struck 191 sites belonging to the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Gaza in response to the continued rocket fire.
