Seven people were killed and at least six more injured in Texas Sunday, after an SUV plowed through a group of pedestrians.

The incident occurred at around 8:20 a.m. Sunday In Brownsville, Texas, when a group of people waiting at a bus stop outside a homeless shelter that serves the local migrant population were struck by a Range Rover SUV.

Authorities now believe the incident was intentional. The driver has been taken into custody and charged with reckless driving, with the possibility of additional charges pending the investigation. Disturbing footage from the aftermath shows injured individuals lying on the ground in bloodied clothing while emergency services respond to the scene.

The suspect is in custody at a local hospital. Police are currently monitoring him while he receives treatment for injuries sustained during the crash. Investigators are also looking into whether the suspect was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the incident.

Several individuals have been taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Ozanam Center is a shelter that serves the homeless population, including migrants due to its proximity to the US-Mexico border. The victims were waiting at a bus stop near the shelter early in the morning when the SUV hit them intentionally, according to authorities.

Lt. Martin Sandoval stated that the suspect has been charged with reckless driving, but more charges may be added as the investigation continues. Videos taken at the scene show the suspect being apprehended by police outside the shelter, shirtless.
