A one-year-old toddler has been killed in a traffic collision at the Negev Junction in the south of the country.

MDA responders treated four people at the scene: two people in serious condition (one of whom is an six-year-old boy), and two others who were moderately injured. All four have been transported to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva.

Yair and Anat Abelson, a married couple who volunteer with United Hatzalah, recounted: "This was an accident involving two vehicles. A baby who was in one of the vehicles was declared dead at the scene. Fire fighter crews also operated at the scene due to the nature of the accident. We also provided assistance to four moderately to severely injured people."

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Services said: "There were several casualties at the scene, and three were trapped in serious condition. We succeeded in extricating them using dedicated hydraulic tools."

According to MDA, "A report was received at MDA's 101 hotline in the Negev region regarding a collision between two vehicles on Highway 40.
