Arutz-7's Haggai Segal opined today:

"The scenes on television last night seemed as if they were taken from George Orwell's '1984:' The chairman of a persecuted political party, who also happens to be the Prime Minister, appears on television to respond to the campaign of slanders against him - when suddenly Big Brother's finger flips the switch and silences him. The viewers are astounded. Instead of the Prime Minister, they suddenly see a [well-known left-wing] personality who explains how justified it was to shut the mouth of the accused, and emphasizes why the accused's explanation was lacking, unreliable, and evasive, and that he is really guilty. [The same scene repeats itself on other channels.] Did I mention that it was reminiscent of '1984?'

"If the accused, Ariel Sharon, succeeds in winning the elections, he will most certainly learn his lesson - and then he will do to his enemies what they did to him. He will replace the Supreme Court, clean out the radio and television stations, and the events of last night will repeat themselves - but in the opposite manner. One day, a right-wing newspaper, let's say HaTzofeh, will attribute alleged corruption to [a left-wing MK]. When the poor guy tries to defend himself in a press conference, the judge on duty will flip the switch and silence him. Instead of seeing the accused, we will see a right-wing commentator explaining that the judge was right and that the accused is feeling the pressure and was speaking nonsense. [The same will happen on the other stations.]

"Will Sharon really do this if he is re-elected? Of course he won't. A few minutes after the elections, he will again smile at the press, at the courts, and even at Mitzna…"
