The Friends of Zion Museum hosted 70 Holocaust survivors this week in honor of the upcoming holiday of Pesach. The survivors were from the Dolls and Dreams group directed by Michal Fondaminsky and a group directed by Dr. Lilian Glazer.
The Mayor of Jerusalem Moshe Leon greeted the Holocaust survivors, saying: “it’s important to keep Israel safe... you survivors can tell what you went through when there was no Israel."
The distinguished guests listened with great pleasure to the concert of 11 young harpists from the Yakinton Ensemble who came specially to play for the survivors.
The Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem hosts many Holocaust survivors in Israel and around the world. Dr. Mike Evans, the founder of the museum, and his son Michael, who is currently the president of FOZ, established a community center for Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem. This community center includes furnished apartments on the museum campus.
Evans has been funding thousands of Holocaust survivors in Israel and Ukraine for many years. Once a month the museum organizes activities, performances, and events for various holidays and even the Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremony for Holocaust survivors who never got to celebrate their own.
