Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will grant rare interviews to the print and electronic media today. He and his advisors realize that this is the only way to stop the downward slide of his party in the polls, in light of continued revelations of corruption in the party. The latest reports, specifically, regarding a loan given to Sharon's son Gilad have caused the loss of additional public support, according to the latest polls. Surveys of a month ago showed that the Likud would have received some 40 seats, while now it is down to about 30. The Prime Minister plans to explain today exactly what occurred regarding the loan his long-time war buddy Cyril Kern gave his family. The Likud campaign staff decided last night that Sharon's other son, Omri, who is in the 26th position in the Likud Knesset list, should not quit the list, in that this would be seen as a sign of his guilt.
