MK Zevulun Orlev, one of the National Religious Party election campaign leaders, has turned to Likud Party campaign chief Ehud Olmert with a demand that Prime Minister Sharon announce that he sees the NRP as a certain coalition partner. "We have heard much talk of late about a possible 'secular unity government', " Orlev said, "involving the Likud, Labor, and Shinui. We have had bitter experience with Sharon in the past…" - a reference to Sharon's refusal to include the NRP in his previous government before the National Union's resignation from the government left him no choice but to do so.
Orlev said that if Sharon does not make such a commitment to the NRP, "the many religious-Zionist Likud supporters should be aware that apparently Sharon feels more affinity with Shinui than with the NRP."
