A crane at a power plant in Ashkelon collapsed overnight Monday due to the stormy weather.

The police said that two people who were on the crane at the time of its collapse fell into the water. One of them was rescued in light condition.

As of Tuesday morning, search efforts for the second missing person are still ongoing. During the night, a fear arose that another person was also at the scene at the time of the incident and searches are now being conducted for him as well.

Police forces in large numbers are participating in the searches, along with IDF soldiers, fire and rescue and the Israel Electric Corporation, using diver units and special means.

The Israel Electric Corporation said, "Due to unusual weather and strong winds, the coal pier at the Rutenberg power station in Ashkelon was damaged, when one of the cranes collapsed. There are concerns of casualties. Teams of the Israel Electric Corporation, rescue forces, the police and the navy are on the scene. The Israel Electric Corporation will form a team to investigate the incident."
