Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited the home of the Lederman family to console them for the loss of Alter Shlomo Lederman Hy"d, who was among those crushed to death in last Friday's horrific ramming attack in northern Jerusalem.
Mrs. Bracha Lederman, the mother of Alter Shlomo, told Radio Kol Chai that her daughter-in-law is still utterly traumatized.
"She was standing right next to him and she saw everything," Mrs. Lederman related. "Her legs were splashed with his blood."
The young widow's life was spared by a miracle and escaped without so much as a scratch; the emotional scars, however, will last for a lifetime.
"We only heard about it afterward, that he was unconscious, and we thought, we hoped that he would recover," Mrs. Lederman continued. "They didn't tell us until we arrived at the hospital. When I saw the extent of his injuries, I realized that he hadn't stood a chance."
Mrs. Lederman also related something of the greatness of her son. "He was a friend to everyone; he always had a listening ear. He had such a good heart and I often thought that his children would be the happiest with such a wonderful father, but it wasn't to be, that wasn't what G-d wanted.
"Even during lockdown, he learned Torah every single day," she added. "At the end of the day, there's nothing but our belief that keeps us going. This was G-d's will, and there is nothing else to say."
