Shoe at scene of the attack in JerusalemDov Ber Hechtman

Chabad photojournalist Dov Ber Hechtman, who is in Israel as part of his work as a photojournalist, documented the moments after Friday’s ramming attack in Jerusalem, and shared in a conversation with Israel National News that this was the first time that photographed the scene of an attack.

"The scenes were difficult, I fought my emotions at the scene and tried to do my journalistic work, I took pictures until I noticed on the side a shoe that belonged to Alter Lederman, who was murdered in the attack. That's the moment when I broke down," he recalled.

"I have documented accidents, funerals and also happy events, I didn't think there would come a moment when I would break down in the middle of my photography work," he continued.

Hechtman said that the most difficult experience was going through the photos at home and sending them to the media he works with. "Another photo and another photo, filtering and selecting - each photo was like an arrow going through my heart, to the point that I already thought about giving up and not even sending the photos."

"I hope we will be able to photograph only joyous occasions and better things, praying to God that this will be the last attack and that there will be no more," he concluded.
