The effort to find survivors of last week's earthquake in Turkey continues on Saturday, and the Rescuers Without Borders delegation worked to save lives in Adiyaman, which was hard hit by the disaster.
Dvir Dimri, a member of the delegation, told Israel National News about the non-stop work. "Throughout the day on Saturday, we worked around the clock. The team constantly worked, except for short breaks for Kiddush and Shabbat meals. I am happy that the number of patients being taken to the hospital decreases daily. This is a very good number, we see that the situation is getting better and is under control."
Dimri adds, "It seems that the Turks are controlling the situation. Medical students and interns from Ankara and Istanbul are arriving at the disaster zone to help the local hospitals. The military distributes the injured to the hospitals according to each hospital's specialty. In addition, the local airport in Adiyaman has been taken over by the military and operates an air train to Ankara and Istanbul and mostly flies injured from the dangerous areas once their condition is stabilized."
"More ambulances are leaving our hospital in Adiyaman, too, taking patients to other hospitals around the country. Two specially trained doctors came with us, and they immediately joined the local forces to assist with complex medical procedures and save survivors, along with continuing to search for additional survivors."
According to Dimri, there is still hope to find survivors, despite all the time that passed. "There always is a small chance to find survivors, and we are doing everything to do so."
