This morning, Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli presented the findings of the Diaspora Ministry's 2022 anti-Semitism report at the weekly government coalition roundtable. The findings were put on display in honor of International Holocaust Day which was commemorated this past Friday, the 27th of January.

The report showed that there was a 13% increase in violent anti-Semitic attacks in 2022 compared to 2021. The report demonstrates a significant increase of anti-Semitic discourse online, compared to the last five years in general and to 2021 in particular.

Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli in a statement during the government session this morning said:

"Anti-Semitism is changing its face and it is increasingly focusing on hatred towards the Jewish state and the denial of its right to exist. Most of the anti-Semitic discourse on social media, 68% according to the comprehensive research carried out by the Ministry of Diaspora, originates in Palestinian circles or in progressive pro-Palestinian circles. And in the face of a relative decrease in the manifestations of anti-Semitism in the world, there has been a noticeable jump in the number of anti-Semitic incidents specifically in the USA, where a hostile atmosphere is emerging on many college campuses towards Jewish students, especially if they identify as Zionists. The State of Israel has the duty to lead the fight against old fashioned anti-Semitism, and the new age anti-Semitism that denies the Jews the right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland."

In response to the anti-Semitism report presented by Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli at the coalition roundtable, "Ad Kan", an Israeli NGO which combats anti-Zionist groups said:

"The Palestinian terrorist organizations that operate as "human rights" organizations as part of their terrorist campaign in Israel are key players in the rise of anti-Semitism around the world. In recent months, we have exposed a number of such organizations, which work with and are financed by terrorist organizations. We call on the Israel government to stop treating these groups as human rights organizations and to stop allowing them freedom of action in Israel. The hatred and harm to Jews abroad is fueled by seemingly innocent organizations that are engaged in fueling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and spreading Palestinian lies around the world which directly affect Jews around the world."
