Five suspects arrested following Friday night's deadly terrorist shooting attack outside of the Ateret Avraham synagogue in Jerusalem's Neve Yaakov neighborhood are believed to have had some level of involvement in the deadly terror attack, Israeli police said Sunday afternoon.

Israeli police released an update Sunday regarding the Investigation into the two terrorist shooting attacks that rocked the capital over the weekend.

After the terrorist, 21-year-old Khairy Alqam, was neutralized by the police, following the terror attack, an investigation was opened in the Israel Security Agency and the central investigations unit of the Jerusalem District police.

On the night of the attack, police arrested numerous suspects - including some of the terrorist's relatives and surrounding neighbors.

Among the detainees that the Jerusalem District Police and the border police arrested, the detention of five suspects were extended due to further investigation of suspicion that they had involvement in the terror attack.

The arrest of the terrorist's mother, who was arrested yesterday several hours after the attack, was extended until February 1.

Two additional suspects that were detained a few hours after the attack, have had an extension of detention until January 31. The uncle of the terrorist who was arrested for questioning, will be brought in today for an extension of his detention.

Also this morning, another suspect suspected of connections to the terror attack was arrested, he will be brought later this week for an extension of detention at a military court.

In the meantime, early in the morning according to the government echelon and with official approvals, the terrorist's house in A-Tur was sealed off by Jerusalem District police officers, Border Police officers and IDF forces. This was after the completion of evacuating the residence of its contents and occupants.

The investigation of the attack is carried out by the central investigation unit of the Jerusalem District Police and the Israel Security Agency.

The 13-year-old terrorist who committed the terror attack and was subdued by an IDF officer and other civilians, was arrested. The terrorist is still hospitalized and was admitted in serious condition. The detention of this terrorist was extended until February 2nd.

The terrorist's mother, father and brother were also arrested in their home in Silwan yesterday, a few hours after the terror attack. Today they will be brought before a Jerusalem court with a request to extend their detention.

The investigation of the two terror attacks by the Israel Security Agency and the police continues with the aim of bringing to justice anyone who is found to have known and/or was involved in any configuration whatsoever for these terrorist attacks last weekend. The attacks that led to 7 civilians murdered and 5 injured.

In the meantime, the police activity throughout the Jerusalem District was increased, in order to maintain security and public safety, as well as for a quick response and handling of scenarios in the area.
