Lior Akerman, a former senior Shabak official and senior researcher at the Policy and Strategy Institute at Reichman University, said that the phenomenon of lone-wolf terrorism is very difficult for the security establishment to deal with following the deadly shooting attack at a Jerusalem synagogue in which seven people were murdered on Friday night,

"The few who are not connected to any organization, the chance of identifying them before an attack is very slim. In the neighborhoods of eastern Jerusalem there are people with high access to weapons, and there is no stopping them from entering Israel," he said in an interview with 103FM.

He added that there is no certainty that there will be a wave of attacks during the Muslim month of Ramadan and the defense establishment's deterrence activity will thwart as many such potential attacks as possible.
