Samaria Regional Council Chief Yossi Dagan is calling out the government in response to the destruction of the Or Chaim outpost, which was established early Friday morning in memory of Rabbi Chaim Druckman near the town of Migdalim in Samaria.
Dagan took to social media on Saturday evening, writing: "The government can not act like the previous government, which the nation was sick of. The right-wing government must act like a right-wing government. This embarrassing situation where Jews are dragged, and houses are destroyed in the land of Israel, while dozens of Arabs stand on the side and hurl stones at the evictees and evictors, is more appropriate for the leftist government, which, thank G-d, is gone, not a wholly right-wing government.
This government can not act like the previous government; the nation regurgitated it because of these kinds of things. I expect the government to check itself and restart the system."
Dagan added that the right-wing voters elected a government that would settle the land of Israel, not destroy it. "When the Israeli government destroys a settlement that Israeli citizens established in memory of Rabbi Druckman, when the Israeli government destroys a community at a strategic position that protects state lands in the heart of the land of Israel, instead of destroying thousand of illegal buildings that the Palestinian Authority built in Area C. The new government can not be like the previous government and discriminate against Jews instead of the enemy.
The government needed to recognize the new community and not destroy it. We came to the land of Israel to build, not destroy it with our own hands. The new government can not act like the previous government, which the nation was sick of. The nation expects a right-wing government, not just words but actions."
Israeli police forces began dismantling a newly-established hilltop outpost community in Samaria Friday afternoon, just hours after the outpost was established.
Jewish settlement activists erected several structures on a hilltop adjacent to the existing town of Migdalim in Samaria overnight, dubbing the outpost "Or Chaim" in honor of the late Religious Zionist spiritual leader, Rabbi Chaim Druckman.
The Defense Ministry's Civil Administration declared the area a closed military zone and ordered the immediate destruction of the structures.
Activists on the scene say Arabs from neighboring towns attacked the outpost during the demolition, assaulting Jews and injuring at least one. Witnesses report Arab rioters hurled stones at activists, while Israeli security forces present at the scene did not intervene.
MK Limor Son Har-Hameleh (Otzma Yehudit) joined activists in protesting the demolition, calling on security personnel to halt the evacuation.
The demolition was launched despite orders by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit) and Minister in the Defense Ministry Bezalel Smotrich (Religious Zionist Party).
As part of the process, police blocked Israeli traffic towards the area at several surrounding junctions.
Ben-Gvir ordered police to halt the demolition Friday, acknowledging that while the outpost had been built without authorization, building infractions must be fairly enforced.
"It is outrageous that while Arabs are building across Judea and Samaria, the Civil Administration people are carrying out selective enforcement – within a matter of hours – to demolish and destroy this outpost," Ben-Gvir said Friday.
