A 47-year-old man was killed by a lightning strike this afternoon (Thursday) in a kibbutz in the Hefer Valley Regional Council in central Israel.
Maged David Adom (MDA) medics and paramedics provided medical treatment, performed CPR on the, man who had burns on his body, and evacuated him in critical condition to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Earlier today, a fire broke out in a residence in Nahalel in the north as a result of a lightning strike. Three firefighting crews from the Nof HaGalil station were called to the scene. No injuries were reported, but extensive damage was caused to the house.
The lightning struck the tiled roof of the house. The firefighters had to go up to the roof of to dismantle the tiles in order to get at the center of the fire.
