Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke Wednesday evening at the Betar movement's Jabotinsky Conference in Jerusalem, where he praised Justice Minister Yariv Levin's proposed reforms to Israel's judicial system.
"We will take steps that will strengthen the personal security of all citizens of the country, we will prepare reforms that will ensure the right balance between the three branches [of government], and we will continue this 'revision' in the pursuit of peace," Netanyahu said.
He noted that "in these days when my government is taking its first steps, I reflect quite a bit on Jabotinsky. Because he introduced the concept of revisionism to Zionism. The 37th Israeli government that came into the world less than a week ago is determined to go in the right direction to establish our presence in the land of our ancestors - the Land of Israel. Even today we need a national revision, instead of inaction, more action."
According to him, "We must promote an action-oriented, energetic, responsible and nationalist policy. We will conduct a revision with confidence and will act more strongly against the terrorist branches of extreme Islam in our region and will fight in different ways to prevent Iran from producing nuclear weapons."
He spoke about the need for change in Israel's foreign relations. "We will revise our foreign relations - our voice will be heard in the world. Instead of bowing our heads and submitting to the dictates of the international community, we will stand up for our interests in the State of Israel and the Land of Israel. We will deepen the peace with Sudan, the Emirates and Morocco - and we will break open new paths for further peace in the Middle East."
"We will also revise the economy - [to make it] a free market economy, and take steps to curb inflation and reduce the cost of living. We will bring prosperity to all citizens of Israel - Jews and Arabs alike," he added.
"We all see what is happening in the space around us, the weak are trampled, the strong survive. Jabotinsky summed up our strength in two words - the 'Iron Wall' that will protect the Jewish state from its enemies. A hundred years have passed since Zabotinsky founded this principle that established this military and political conception. It is only thanks to this protective wall that the people of Israel were able to establish themselves in the face of Arab hostility and create peace agreements with Arab countries," Netanyahu said.
He noted: "About what I said a moment ago - everyone understands the rationale of the Iron Wall, but not everyone understands how to permanently strengthen the Iron Wall. We are required to constantly strengthen it against every enemy, against every arena. We will continue to systematically cultivate our military, economic, political, social, and intelligence strength. Our innovation is in the combination of strengths and in the understanding that a central element of the Iron Wall is economic strength, because over time it is not possible to produce military strength without the resources required to finance it. Indeed, it is about the free market economy that led us to this skyrocketing economy."
"Israeli innovation has become a household name in the world. It was used to equip new submarines, new planes with a new cyber system. Zabotinsky's doctrine is a doctrine of life. It is a doctrine of truth. His ideas remain fruitful. His hopes are fulfilled, " he concluded.
