Prime Minister Sharon fired Deputy Minister Naomi Blumental last night, after the latter did not provide him with a satisfactory explanation regarding her behavior during her recent police interrogation. Sharon has no say regarding her placement on the Likud's party list in the upcoming election, however. Blumental is placed in the 9th spot, and is thus assured a Knesset seat. Her aides say that the reason for her silence in the face of the police questioning will soon become clear, and that the "bitter and difficult truth" will soon emerge. Blumental herself continues to remain silent on the matter. Pini Badash, the Mayor of the southern city of Omer, says he has important information that he wants to share with the police about various underhanded dealings in the Likud.
