The IDF continued for yet a fourth day its operations in the Arab village of Dura, home to the terrorists who carried out the Friday night murders of four yeshiva students in nearby Otniel. After demolishing the homes of the two murderers the night before last and making some arrests in the village, the forces apprehended another four wanted terrorists early this morning. Three of them are members of Islamic Jihad, the organization that took responsibility for the near-massacre.
The last act of one of the victims, Noam Apter, was to lock the door separating the kitchen, into which the terrorists had burst in, and the dining room, where 70 students were eating their Sabbath meal. He thus saved a major massacre, in that the terrorists were unable to fire upon the students. The magnitude of his act was proven when the murderers still attempted to shoot wildly through the closed doors, lightly wounding five students.
In addition, IDF forces arrested three Arab women in Bethlehem this morning. The three are suspected of terrorist activity, and were taken to the GSS for questioning. The IDF also razed three terrorist homes in the Hevron-area village of Biet Omar.
A soldier and two civilian workers for the IDF were wounded this afternoon, lightly-to-moderately, when Palestinians fired an anti-tank missile in their direction. They were working on building a wall on the Israeli-Egyptian border in the Rafiach area at the time. Light-weapons fire and grenades were also directed at the nearby Termit outpost at the same time... Arabs threw rocks at a Border Guard jeep accompanying a Magen David ambulance in eastern Jerusalem this afternoon. No one was hurt, but the vehicle was damaged, and police responded with tear gas.
