In a report released yesterday by the IDF Spokesperson's Office, details

were revealed of a wide-ranging counter-terrorism operation, carried out by

the IDF in conjunction with the GSS (General Security Service - Shin/Bet)

over the course of the preceding twenty-four hours. During the operation,

several terrorists responsible for directing and perpetrating some of the

most serious attacks against Israeli targets were arrested or killed. The

Spokesperson's report stated that "This widespread operation carried out

over the past 24 hours is a significant step in disrupting the ability of

the various terrorist organizations to perpetrate large-scale deadly

terrorist attacks."





In reaction to the intensified counter-terrorist operation by Israel,

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher accused Israel of torpedoing efforts

by the PA to reach an agreement with the other terrorist organizations

regarding a cease-fire and cessation of attacks.





Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told military and GSS representatives that IDF

pressure and operations against terrorism throughout Yesha (Judea, Samaria,

& Gaza) must continue and that terrorists must be apprehended wherever they

may be.
