In a night laden with Oslo War terrorism and violence, the following incidents were recorded:
* Four soldiers were wounded, including one in serious condition, by Arab gunfire in PA-controlled Jenin. They were transported to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
* Terrorist gunfire targeted, but missed, a motorist traveling near Kiryat Arba. Another similar attempted murder occurred this afternoon near Einav, in the Shomron.
* A Kassam rocket and two mortar shells landed this morning in a southern Gush Katif community. No damage or injuries were reported.
* An Islamic Jihad terrorist commander, Hamza Abu Rov, was killed by IDF gunfire in Kabatia, south of Jenin, during the pre-dawn hours.
* Six PA residents suspected of terrorist activities were arrested by IDF forces and transferred to the custody of the General Security Service.
* Two terrorists approaching the community of Netzarim were detected and killed by IDF tank fire. At least one of them was a Hamas member. A rifle, magazines, and a cellular phone were found near their bodies.
* In general, security and intelligence agencies are on alert against planned terror attacks. Yesterday, Police Chief Shlomo Aharonishki warned that Al Qaeda and terrorists from Iran were working to perpetrate a mega-attack in Israel.
This morning featured some Israeli successes. Another terrorist leader, Al Aksa Brigades commander Jamal Nader, was killed by IDF forces as he tried to elude capture. Nader, of Tul Karem, was responsible for many shooting attacks against IDF soldiers. Another wanted fugitive was caught late this morning in Ramallah after a short firefight.
At the Kerach Junction in Ramle today, an unknown man came up to a woman soldier, quickly cut the strap holding her M-16 rifle, and snatched the weapon away. She was unhurt, and police took off in pursuit of the thief.
GSS and Prison Service officials have long suspected that imprisoned terrorist in the Ketziot facility have continued to plan attacks even from their jail cells - and today they received confirmation. A routine check of a truck bringing frozen food to the jail turned up interesting results: Cellular phones smuggled inside some of the hundreds of frozen chickens on their way into the prison. The driver was questioned, but was released after it became clear that he did not know of the smuggling attempt.
