Scant comfort for the Aramah family and Moshav Netzer Hazani: The IDF has razed the home of the terrorist responsible for the murder two days ago of Rabbi Yitzchak Arama - father of six and rabbi of Netzer Hazani. Army tanks and bulldozers entered the southern Gaza city of Rafiach early this morning, where the forces also arrested several residents, including three relatives of the murderer-dispatcher. He was also responsible for five other attacks in which two soldiers were killed and several Israelis were wounded.
The IDF carried out its usual post-attack response in Gaza and divided the Gaza Strip into three parts, cutting off Arab traffic from one to another. The measure was apparently meant to last just for the duration of the weekend operation, however, and the Strip was made whole once more as early as this morning. Jewish residents complained that "Rabbi Arama's blood is barely dry, yet the army has already removed the blockades to Arab traffic."
Six other terrorist suspects were arrested during the course of the night. Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz told the Cabinet today that over 1,000 Palestinians have been arrested since the beginning of November, and added that last week's arrests certainly prevented a large number of suicide bombings in Israel. It was similarly released for publication today that a terrorist responsible for several murderous attacks in which 46 Israelis were killed has been arrested.
A terrorist infiltration boomeranged last night in Morag, a Jewish community in southern Gush Katif on Israel's southern Mediterranean coast. An IDF force was alerted to the scene when an Arab terrorist crossed the town's outer fence, setting off the electronic warning system. He greeted the arriving forces with a spray of shrapnel grenades, but they fired back and killed him. One soldier was lightly wounded in the short battle, and was treated in Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva.
