The level of the Kinneret Sea, the nation's main aquifer, rose 11 centimeters (4.3 inches) over the weekend due to the heavy rains, and now stands at 214.2 meters below sea level. This is a half-meter higher than it was last year at this time, but still 1.2 meters below the government mandated red line. More heavy rains are predicted for Tuesday night.

The Mt. Hermon ski areas received enough snow over the weekend to justify its opening to visitors today - but actual skiers will apparently have to wait until the next snowstorm.
