IDF troops thwarted a terrorist infiltrator from entering Morag, a Jewish community in southern Gush Katif on Israel's southern Mediterranean coast. The force was alerted to the scene when the terrorist crossed the town's outer fence, setting off the electronic warning system. He greeted the arriving forces with a spray of shrapnel grenades, but they fired back and killed him. One soldier was lightly wounded in the short battle, and was treated in Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva.
