Today, the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Aviv Kohavi, toured the Jewish community in the Old City of Marrakesh during the second day of his official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. LTG Kohavi visited the Jewish cemetery and the Slat al-Azama Great Synagogue. LTG Kohavi met with members of the community, some of whom immigrated to Israel with the "Youth Aliyah" organization, fought alongside the IDF in the Yom Kippur War and returned to the Kingdom of Morocco following its conclusion. The Chief of the General Staff then attended a prayer service at the Slat al-Azama Great Synagogue.

LTG Kohavi paid tribute to the community members and thanked them for their contribution to the Jewish people in both the State of Israel and the Jewish diaspora.

The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Aviv Kohavi, said to the Jewish community of Morocco, thanking them for their contribution to Israel and the diaspora: “The Kingdom of Morocco is an ally of the State of Israel, and our bond constitutes an example of a deep and special connection between two nations based on a shared heritage. I feel a sense of pride and admiration to meet you, the Jewish community of Morocco, some of who fought for the State of Israel, and are today working here for the Jewish community and to deepen the connection with Israel."

Later today, LTG Kohavi and the Head of the Research Intelligence Division visited the “Ben Guerir” Royal Moroccan Air Force Base. The Chief of the General Staff was briefed by the base’s commander on the local UAV threat and received a presentation regarding the base’s F-16 Fighter Jet Squadron. The commanders also discussed cooperation between the two militaries' air forces.

Additionally, the Israeli delegation visited the Moroccan Royal Armed Forced Paratroopers Brigade yesterday (Tuesday) and spoke with commanders of the unit.
