Education Minister Limor Livnat has sharp criticism for one of her predecessors - Shulamit Aloni of Meretz - for screening for her Tel Aviv University students the movie "Jenin, Jenin." Livnat said that screening the movie, which portrays the fighting in Jenin of eight months ago as if it were an Israeli massacre of innocent Arabs, is a "severe blow to the memory of the fighters who fell." Investigative bodies that looked into the warfare, including the United Nations, stated conclusively that nothing approaching a massacre took place there.

In a related item, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has ordered a local network to cease screening a TV series that compared Ariel Sharon to Hitler. Nile TV had broadcast the first episode of the series before Israel's Foreign Ministry submitted a sharp complaint on the matter. The official Egyptian state network is currently broadcasting to much of the Arab world a 40-part series depicting Zionism as a Jewish plot to rule the world based on the proven forgery, "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."
