Three Algerian Moslem extremists have been arrested in Paris on suspicion of planning a chemical attack. They were found to be in possession of unidentified chemicals, as well thousands of dollars in cash and Islamic propaganda literature.



In other European news, British Prime Minister Tony Blair made clear yesterday that differences between his country and Syria still remain even after his talks with Syrian President Assad. Though Blair did not accept Syria's pacifist stand regarding Iraq - the British leader emphasized that "action should follow" if Baghdad violates U.N. demands - he did tell reporters yesterday that he believes Syria could be a "central pillar in building peace in the Middle East."



Asked about terrorism emanating from Syria, the Syrian leader smiled as he said, "We have no terrorist organizations, only press offices of PA bodies." The State of Israel and Jewish groups remain greatly concerned that Britain's relations with one of the world's leading terrorist-sponsoring countries weaken the international struggle against terrorism.
