Following public protests and a request from Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef, the management of the Arim Mall in Kfar Saba has agreed that its stores will not be open on the Sabbath. The city's Merchants Association announced its satisfaction with the decision. Movie theaters and restaurants in the mall will continue to operate on the holy day, however.

Outgoing MK Rabbi Yehuda Gilad (Meimad) calls on the religious public not to allow itself to "get drunk" over its local success in Kfar Saba, but to rather try to "create a charter that will formulate an agreed upon character for Shabbat, based on the distinction between places of business and those of leisure." Gilad also said that Labor, the party with which he refused to run in the coming elections, must stop unilaterally trying to enforce its "secular revolution."
