A longtime parade volunteer who was in the Highland Park, Illinois Fourth of July parade when the mass shooting occurred, described what he experienced to a reporter.
He said that the shooting at first sounded like fireworks and he and his friends rode their bikes up and down the street, totally unaware of the dangerous situation unfolding.
He added that he knew several of the parade-goers who were killed.
