Several hundred residents of Kiryat Arba and elsewhere in Yesha demonstrated in Jerusalem last night against Prime Minister Sharon and his policies. The catalyst for the protest was the Thursday night murder of two soldiers by Arab gunmen along Worshipers' Way between Hevron and Kiryat Arba. It was clear from the speeches, however, that the frustration against Sharon had been building up for a while. This was the first time in a long while that right-wing protestors had come out against Sharon.



Rabbi Moshe Levinger, founder of the modern Hevron Jewish Community, told the crowd, "What is Sharon promising us? That he will continue in the same path - the path of partnership with Labor! This is the path that is leading us only in the direction of more funerals!" Nadia Matar, co-founder of Women in Green, said,

"The government has just given more money to the PA, instead of putting a stop to terrorism. Sharon, who is supposed to be the leader of the national camp, is again already talking about joining up with the [Labor Party] criminals of Oslo - those who are responsible for the murders of hundreds of Jews! Sharon was once a true hero, who knew how to deal with Arab terror - but now he has turned into a poodle of Peres and George Bush. Does he think that we will all go along with him just like the sheep on his farm?!"
