Happy New Year criminals, and welcome to New York
Happy New Year criminals, and welcome to New York

We were driving through the Lincoln Tunnel, and I could sense my wife beginning to tense up.

After all, we were riding through water, 80 to 90 feet below the surface of the Hudson River, and suppose there’s a leak or the walls collapse. Leslie does not like water, when it comes in waves… one of two reasons why we do not live in a $56 million home with a view of the ocean, any ocean.

We’ve made this trip, Manhattan to New Jersey, a thousand times, but once in a while it hits you, the fear, and the amazement of it all.

Getting a flat tire smack in the middle is an occasional nightmare.

But imagine that…people built this thing…underwater. I read that they started building it in the early 1930s, but whenever, imagine the brain power and the sweat that it took.

People built things. They still do. Trump did. He still does.

From the wheel to the rocket, nearly everything we use, see and touch, human ingenuity and muscle made it happen.

So how is it that mostly idiots run our world? Unlike Trump, who always was a builder, they build nothing…never have, never will…and yet they call the shots.

People who did nothing, or nothing to write home about, decide that they, the dimwits, know best, run for office, and we, fools ourselves, vote for them, and I guess it’s because we have no choice. The pool of candidates is so shallow…and for the moment, it’s our lawmakers in Albany, the State Legislature, that I’m thinking about.

Run by Democrats, as if you had to ask, they passed a bill that should make you stop wondering why the anti-Semites, and other thugs, now own our streets. Like this.

So, scofflaws, please don’t worry, Gotham is especially hospitable, so long as de Blasio runs the asylum.
A new law that invites hooligans to come join us, took effect Jan 1, this year, but was implemented even earlier by liberal judges who want lawbreakers to know that nearly everything they do, is okay, even from yesterday. So, scofflaws, please don’t worry, Gotham is especially hospitable, so long as de Blasio runs the asylum.

The New York Times pleasantly explains: “Under the new law, judges will no longer be able to set bail for a long list of misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies, including stalking, assault without serious injury, burglary, many drug offenses, and even some kinds of arson and robbery.”

Please read that again, and this, just in case you think I made that up…or that only people out of their minds would make laws so ridiculous and harmful.

As Jews and other citizens duck for cover, those punks are free to walk? Yes…and who stipulates whether an “injury” is “serious” or not? Who decides “non-violent?”

Spitting at someone used to be a violent act. Heck, I thought it still was. Silly me.

What we know as revolving door injustice, they call it bail “reform.” Reform it is all right, to the benefit of the outlaw.

In case the REFORM has not come to your town as yet, look out, the Progressives are coming, and they won’t stop until they REFORM the entire country.

They’ve got big plans. Listen to the Democrat candidates, and tell me whether you buy them…Biden or Bernie or Buttigieg…as presidential material.

Or rather, more sensibly, as I suggest, they are more fit to serve, like AOC, as bartenders, if that much. At least, from experience, she knows how to make cash change.

New York-based bestselling American novelist Jack Engelhard writes regularly for Arutz Sheva.

He wrote the worldwide book-to-movie bestseller “Indecent Proposal,” and the authoritative newsroom epic, “The Bathsheba Deadline,” followed by his coming-of-age classics, “The Girls of Cincinnati,” and, the Holocaust-to-Montreal memoir, “Escape from Mount Moriah,” for which contemporaries have hailed him “The last Hemingway, a writer without peer, and the conscience of us all.” Website
