Israel hits back hard in Syria \ Abraham and Job Complain to God
Israel hits back hard in Syria \ Abraham and Job Complain to God

Bravo: “At approximately 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Israeli Air Force jets took departed for a series of retaliatory attacks on Iranian military targets in Syria, following rocket attacks from Syria on northern Israel attributed to Iran’s Qud’s Force. The airstrikes hit more than 20 Iranian targets in Syria, including the Quds Force’s central command center, the Israeli security official said. The primary objective of the strikes, the official added, was to hit Iranian-backed terrorists operating out of Syria, with a secondary objective of destroying Syrian surface-to-air missile (SAM) batteries. Six SAM sites were destroyed in the attacks.”

Bravo to good rebels living in Iran rising up against the mullahs.  May God spare the whole country of Iran from destruction because of good rebels willing to fight the evil mullahs.

A theory about Abraham.

Abraham pleas with God to save Sodom and Gomorrah

Abraham pleas with God to save the whole of Sodom and Gomorrah. The people are gravely wicked: “Then the Lord said, The outrage of Sodom and Gomorrah is so great, and their sin so grave! I will go down to see whether they have acted altogether according to the outcry that has reached Me; if not, I will take note.” (Genesis 18:20-21).

Abraham complains to God

“What if there should be fifty innocent within the city; will You then wipe out the place and not forgive it for the sake of the innocent fifty who are in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing, to bring death upon the innocent as well as the guilty, so that innocent and guilty fare alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly? And the Lord answered, If I find within the city of Sodom fifty innocent ones, I will forgive the whole place for their sake.” (Genesis 18:24-26).

Abraham uses strong language in his complaint to God “Far be it from You to do such a thing.”

Abraham bargains with God: 50 45 40 30 20 10  “And he said, Let not my Lord be angry if I speak but this last time: What if ten should be found there? And He answered, I will not destroy, for the sake of the ten.” (Genesis 18:32).

Job complains to God

The Book of Job records Job complaining God is not a fair judge.”I say to God, Do not condemn me; Let me know what You charge me with. Does it benefit You to defraud, To despise the toil of Your hands, While smiling on the counsel of the wicked?” (Job 10:2-3).  Job complains that God smiles on the wicked while punishing innocent. This is strong language.

God responds to Job: “Have you an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like His? Deck yourself now with grandeur and eminence; Clothe yourself in glory and majesty. Scatter wide your raging anger; See every proud man and bring him low. See every proud man and humble him, And bring them down where they stand. Bury them all in the earth; Hide their faces in obscurity. Then even I would praise you For the triumph your right hand won you.” (Job 40:9-14).

Fighting the wicked

It seems that God wants mankind to fight evil rulers: “Bury them all in the earth; Hide their faces in obscurity. Then even I would praise you,” He tells Job.  And the last sentences of the Book of Job: “Afterward, Job lived one hundred and forty years to see four generations of sons and grandsons. So Job died old and contented.” (Job 42:16-17).  God blessed him.

Today, Donald Trump and Netanyahu fight evil rulers. We pray for God’s blessing. We pray for the wicked to turn from their evil ways:  “Say to them: As I live—declares the Lord God—it is not My desire that the wicked shall die, but that the wicked turn from his [evil] ways and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways, that you may not die, O House of Israel!” (Ezekiel 33:11).

In Abraham’s time, there were a few rebels fighting the evil Sodom and Gomorrah rulers.  Lot was a rebel in Sodom. Lot invited guests, though Sodom’s wicked king mandated the death penalty for inviting guests. The whole town came to Lot’s door: “But they said, Stand back! The fellow, they said, came here as an alien, and already he acts the ruler וישפט שפט ! Now we will deal worse with you than with them. And they pressed hard against the person of Lot, and moved forward to break the door.” (Genesis 19:9).

Lot fought against the wicked people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Bravo. Abraham’s whole life he fought against wicked rulers.

In the prayers of Yom Kippur we recite, tearfully,  that the wicked Roman Empire killed:

רבן שמעון בן גמליאל נשיא ישראל ב

Today we must fight wicked rulers once again.

Obama was actually helping the rulers of Iran to get the bomb, giving them money and more. Obama in 2009 did not take the side of the good fighting against the wicked rulers of Iran.  Abraham takes the side of the good fighting the wicked rulers of Sodom and Gomorrah. We must learn from Abraham and support good people fighting wicked rulers everywhere. We must do what God tells Job: “Bury them all in the earth; Hide their faces in obscurity. Then even I would praise you.”
