The Democrats went so boldly and confidently into impeachment only knowing this, that they had the media firmly on their side.
Deals were struck behind closed doors.
The scenario is not hard to imagine, as follows – you give us the goods (in the form of leaks), and we’ll give you the headlines.
All of that, naturally, to the detriment of President Trump.
Enthusiastically, the media played the part of handmaiden, which means servant for the Democrats – which means collusion.
The media made no big deal of it when Obama was caught asking for patience and assuring Russia’s Medvedev that after his re-election, “I’ll have more flexibility.”
Obama wanted that information passed along to incoming president, Putin.
That could be taken as collusion, or abuse of power, or asking favors from a foreign government; in other words, an exchange ripe for impeachment.
Where was the geschrei from either side of the aisle? Nobody asked for hearings and investigations, so protracted as to keep Congress from functioning.
The story hung for about an hour, and then vanished. All the breaks for Obama. No such leniency and no such luck for Trump. So now…
What a team when Pelosi and Schiff have as their partner The New York Times’ editor in chief, Dean Baquet, who instructed his writers to drop objectivity, but write how they “feel.”
Well, we know how they feel.
We know it every day from the Times, CNN, MSNBC, and all across the media firmament.
Drip…drip…day after day, the trick is so obvious, and it is to condition the public against President Trump and to remind the people that there is impeachment going on, as there was gambling going on in “Casablanca,” likewise in the back rooms. Yes, on Thursday, Pelosi/Schiff opened the doors a crack, but only to keep the show suspenseful.
Now, as the Dems have it on Trump, and frankly for the country, the part of it, to their eyes, that voted WRONG, first impeach – and then find a crime.
They say this “formalizes” the impeachment process; or, as we know it, another day to show off for the cameras, and to keep making the point that the president did something awful.
Of course, he did. He won.
This never ends well, anywhere in the world, when voluntarily or through coercion, the media pick one side against another.
Which gives the schemers every chance they need to plot in darkness.
Which gives We the People no chance to know what’s up.
Trump knows how this works. Netanyahu, who gets the same nitpicking treatment from the Hebrew press, knows how this works.
So surely does Kafka where in his writings he shows how first the gallows for the condemned man, and then the trial. In Kafka’s world of the absurd, people were arrested, and found guilty, without knowing what they did, and without being told. Never mind. There is always SOMETHING you did wrong.
Now, as the Dems have it on Trump, and frankly for the country, the part of it, to their eyes, that voted WRONG, first impeach – and then find a crime.
As Trump forewarns, if they can do it to him, they can do it to anyone.
But they could not keep doing it without the media in their pockets.
Ironically, it’s to keep us in the dark, when their only job is to enlighten us and play no favorites.
Instead, they tell us only what they want us to know, one tainted spoonful at a time.
So too, throughout history, entire civilizations left the stage when such darkness prevailed. One nation after another took turns plunging into the abyss, for want of a fully informed public.
Are we next?
