In the 21st spot is Michael Ratzon, 50, who was a Knesset Member for a short time in 1996; he managed to speak just once before the Knesset dissolved prior to the Netanyahu-Peres election. Chairman of the Avner Insurance Corporation, he told Arutz-7 today,
"Usually people who are busy have more time; those who are not busy usually waste it… I try to use my time as wisely as I can…"
Ratzon admitted that many of the new names on the Likud list are not well-known: "It may be true that one or two are party hacks [without significant qualifications], but in general I think that the new list represents an extraordinary cross-section of society: young, women, academics, businesspersons, etc." When it was pointed out that the religious seemed to be under-represented, he said, "I don't want to get into philosophy, but you're talking to someone who is Sabbath-observant, and my children are in yeshivot, so what am I? Religious or not?" He said that all talk of a Palestinian state today is a mistake: "It's much too early for that. Maybe Sharon has global political needs that make him talk about this, but I think we first have to defeat terrorism, and I would even say to defeat the Palestinian people, because much of the population there encourages murder and we have to deal with them." He said that he voted for Sharon in the internal election, "because though I may not agree with everything he says, I think is an excellent Prime Minister, and we must not unseat a sitting Prime Minister."
