The Yesha Council, representing the Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, has called on U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Kurtzer once again to stop intervening in Israeli life. Kurtzer said last night that the "settlers do not represent the national consensus in Israel," and added that the "settlement enterprise today is not a must for the future existence of Israel." The Yesha Council says that Kurtzer "continues to represent the previous American administration, and not the opinions of Congress and the Bush Administration."
Appearing at the same gathering last night, NRP head Infrastructures Minister Effie Eitam said that all unilateral solutions, including transfer, are doomed to fail. He therefore proposes that a Palestinian entity be formed in the Sinai desert. An Egyptian representative responded that such a plan would shake the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty. Meretz party leader Yossi Sarid proposed that all of Yesha be handed over to an international mandate.
