“Even kids can make a difference when they come together for a greater cause!” So says Uri Miller, Chairman of Project One Percent, a project that is encouraging students from all over the world to pledge at least 1% of their summer earnings to the victims of terror in Israel. Thus far, according to Miller, over 400 students have raised more than $25,000. Jewish summer camps from throughout the US, Canada and the UK have participated in the project on a group level.

According to Miller, the idea for the Project came from a program initiated by the Wharton School of Business, where first year students donate 1% of their summer earnings to support second year students that choose to work for non-profit organizations. In addition, Miller said, he was inspired by the success of the project initiated by Laura Bush, when she asked American children to send one dollar to the White House after the destruction wrought by the 9/11 attacks.
