Residents of pre-'67 Israel towns along the Green Line demand that construction of the anti-terrorist fence-wall be hurried up, and they plan a sit-down strike outside the Prime Minister's Office to make their position clear. At a stormy meeting today at the Beit She'an Municipality, not far from where two terrorist infiltrators killed six Jews on Thursday, Prime Minister Sharon was blamed for the slow pace of the wall's construction. "Lives are being lost because someone decided that a wall would mean a division between the territories and the rest of Israel," one protestor said, and another said, "One man is responsible for hundreds of dead victims, and it's time to bring him the bill."
On the other hand, former GSS head Yaakov Peri said today what Yesha leaders have long claimed: "Fences and obstacles alone will not prevent terrorism. Terrorism is like water; when it's blocked in one place, it will find itself another route somewhere else, as we just saw in Kenya. Genuine security will be achieved only by simultaneous action on two fronts: military action against terrorism and the renewal of the diplomatic process."
