For over a decade, the United States has conducted a stealth experiment in stealth war-fighting, with profound consequences for its military strategy and self-governance.
Since 9/11, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Pentagon's Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) have become parallel spying and war-fighting machines that operate around the globe.
Technologically advanced quick-strike night raids in hot battlefields such as Iraq and Afghanistan, targeted killings in Yemen and spy operations in Iran would become JSOC trademark.
In contrast, the CIA had "more expansive authorities" due to its specialty in running covert actions that the government does not acknowledge publicly.
This summer, the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) will conduct an unprecedented multi-state exercise “to train US Special Operations Forces to further strengthen their working relationship for future deployments and to respond to an international crisis".
From July 15 to Sept. 15, about 1,200 special operations personnel will be involved and move covertly among the public. They will use military equipment to travel between seven Southwestern states from Texas to California.
Code-named Jade Helm 15, the operation is a covert, off-base military training exercise in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, California, and Nevada.
USASOC has conducted multistate training exercises before, but Jade Helm 15 will become the largest training operation done by the US military in response to what it calls the evolving nature of warfare.
On a map released by USASOC to show the fictitious battlefield of the Jade Helm 15 training exercise, Texas, Utah and California are labeled as “hostile” states.
Texans speculate that the military will use the Walmart underground tunnels to move undetected around certain states with the stores being used as either a communications hub or "FEMA camps.”
The construction of FEMA domes or “detention camps” by the US military to house “insurgents” in Texas is a cause of great concern among Texans.
Despite assurances from the Command that the purpose of Jade Helm 15 "is to train US Special Operations Forces in their core skill sets for future use overseas," the covert nature of the preparations in states labeled as "hostile" stokes fears of looming martial law.
Citing “plumbing problems” as the reason for the sudden shut-downs of Walmart in Texas, California, Florida and Oklahoma does not hold water. Something else may be going on and the picture is alarming.
Even more disturbing and highly suspicious is the fact that the unelected and unaccountable Department of Homeland Security which is intimately involved with the exercise will oversee operations of special forces with regard to political prisoner processing centers.
As a precautionary measure, Texas Governor Abbott ordered the Texas National Guard to monitor federal military exercises to reassure Texans that "their safety and civil liberties will not be infringed."
After all, if Homeland Security which enforces what many see as Obama's anti-American policies will oversee the training, there is nothing wrong with a governor of a state trying to fulfill his duties and obligation to protect his constituents.
All of this explains why a good many Americans get upset and confused pondering the existence of Wal-Mart underground tunnels and Operation Jade Helm 15 conspiracy theories.
Conspiracy theorists have postulated that the exercise is a ruse to institute martial law, possibly involving a network of underground tunnels that the U.S. military will use to link DUMBS or “deep underground military bases” to secretly transport troops across the U.S.
The USASOC Public Affairs office in Fort Bragg, N.C stated “the rumors about Jade Helm and any association with recent closings of Walmarts are untrue.” Most important, the "training exercise does not have anything to do with martial law".
There is a rumor of reported outsourcing of U.N. personnel or Chinese troops who will disarm Americans in response to a "false flag chicanery intended to mask a federal takeover".
According to published reports, Walmart issued a statement debunking a conspiracy theory claiming that the military has already created a system of underground tunnels below five closed Walmart outlets and that “the closed stores, one of which is located in Texas, will serve as ‘food distribution centers’ and will be used to ‘house the headquarters of invading troops from China, here to disarm Americans one by one.’"
Army Col. Steve Warren rebutted that “Operation Jade Helm is being conducted by Americans– by, specifically, American special forces personnel.”
The coincidental timing of Jade Helm 15 exercise and the discovery of Islamic State (ISIS) planning to launch an attack across the border from El Paso, Mexico, warrants a deployment of US Special Forces to fight off the threat of ISIS on US soil.
Moreover, the Special Ops Command sought to dispel fears that foreign fighters from the Islamic state were being brought in or that Texans' guns would be confiscated, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
Rep. Mac Thornberry , a republican Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee from Texas, told The Dallas Morning News that “these are incredibly capable, patriotic Americans and the notion that they’re going to be some sort of private army for the president to take away all our guns is just silly.”
Martial Law is an extremely unnerving scenario. But, Americans can rely on our military men and women to do what is right and to question the competence and trustworthiness of a commander-in-chief who chooses a path using US military as a tool to impose martial law.
Is it happening? Has a dictatorial president directed the military to detain American citizens, an impeachable offense? Has a dysfunctional Congress lost the moral compass to do what is right for America?.
Obama knows he is hugely unpopular with the US military, that is why he created a parallel outfit of a well-funded “civilian national security force” - perhaps eventually to institute martial law.
Americans have to be prepared to prevent their freedoms from crumbling. And they must never underestimate the capability of the military to thwart Obama's adventures and to do something about it.
The bottom line is that a majority of Americans may have issues with the Obama administration, but instead of viewing US Navy Seals and other US military personnel with suspicion, they must support and encourage them to resist attempts to destroy everything American from within.
