Likud Party voting stations are open today, ready to accept the more than 300,000 eligible voters who will choose their party leader - and, most likely, the next Prime Minister. Ariel Sharon arrived in Sderot early to vote, but his appearance was not the customary joyous photo-op of the incumbent dropping his envelope into the ballot box. Instead, in light of the terrorist attack in Kenya, it was a somber moment, and a somber Sharon merely said that he calls upon Likud members to come and vote to choose the man who will lead the country for the next four years. Polls show that Foreign Minister Netanyahu is way behind Prime Minister Sharon; this morning's surveys show that Sharon continues to maintain a 20-plus percentage point lead over his rival. Netanyahu has spent the morning in the Foreign Ministry, briefing the press on the attack in Kenya.
