Close to 200 British Jews attended a rain-marred rally for the Victims of Arab Terror in London this week, organized by ZAKA and Betar UK London. Some 680 candles - one for each of the victims of the 26 months of Oslo War violence - were placed in the shape of two Israeli flags, and were lit by various participants. These included MP Rudi Vis, representatives of the Israeli Embassy, ZAKA, Magen David Adom, JNF, Betar, Tagar, Likud, Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Bnei Akiva, and others. Memorial prayers were also recited.
In another rain-marked event, Women in Green organized a protest against Prime Minister Sharon's support for a Palestinian state this week. Speakers included MK Yuri Stern, Jan Willem van der Hoeven, Elyakim Ha'etzni and WiG co-founder Nadia Matar. The organization also initiated a petition against a PLO state, on which over 300,000 people have signed. In a sharply-worded recent essay, WiG founders Ruth and Nadia Matar wrote about Sharon:
"Any person who favors pleasing America at the expense of Jewish lives, is resigned to a Palestinian State, and is willing to pay the ghastly price of unity with Labor... at the expense of vital national concerns, should not lead the Jewish People in these critical times. Sharon no longer deserves to be the Prime Minister of Israel!"
