A Palestinian carbomb on its way to explode near an IDF office in northern Gaza was detonated earlier than planned this morning. The driver entered the joint Israeli-Palestinian installation from the Arab side, and was killed in the sudden explosion. No one else was hurt, but PA offices were set on fire as a result.



In other Gaza war news: No fewer than five mortar shells were fired at IDF outposts near N'vei Dekalim over the course of the night. Arabs also fired heavily at Israeli troops in two separate incidents in southern Gaza. In response, IDF helicopters attacked two Arab targets in Khan Yunis, though it is unclear whether the mortar-launching terrorists were hit. A terrorist who tried to infiltrate the small Jewish community of Rafiach Yam was sighted and killed last night. This followed Palestinian shooting on an IDF ambulance yesterday afternoon, which damaged the vehicle.



IDF forces captured a terrorist in Shechem today on his way to perpetrate a suicide attack against Jews. This was the seventh such save in the past two weeks. At least 30 wanted terrorists were arrested since last night in Judea and Samaria, including nine in Dehaishe, near Bethlehem. The IDF is engaged in the pursuit of a Bethlehem-area cell planning an attack in Jerusalem; one of its members has been arrested so far, but security forces in the capital remain on high alert.



The PLO's #2 man, Abu Mazen, called yesterday on Hamas and Islamic Jihad to stop their suicide attacks, "in order not to give Israel excuses to re-conquer Palestinian [sic] lands." In inter-Arab tensions last night, PA forces attempted to arrest an armed gang holed up in a Gaza mosque, and during the exchange of fire, loudspeakers called upon the residents to prevent the arrests.
