The third candidate in the Likud election, Moshe Feiglin of the Jewish Leadership movement, spoke on Arutz-7 this morning. "To those who think that a vote for me is a wasted one," he said, "I say that it's quite the opposite. Sharon is going to win, so why waste a vote on him? It would send much more of a message if together with the victory of Sharon and his support for a Palestinian state, it will be able to be said that Feiglin made a strong showing."
Feiglin has explained that his purpose is to provide an alternative leadership for the country. "If I withdraw," he said today, "it will be a sign that there is no one else for whom to vote, and the mainstream can play with the minority that we currently represent as they please." He has written that those who think "that our national bus is traveling in the right direction and the problem lies solely with unsuccessful drivers or winding roads, do not find their place [with us]. But those who understand that the reason for all the crises is not incompetent leadership but the wrong destination, also realize that a mere improvement in the situation will not help. It is not enough to increase the number of religious MKs, or the number of MKs from national parties (including the Likud), or the number of religious soldiers in the IDF. This is important, and very good, but will never lead to a substantial change. One can help the flock from within, but to lead it in another direction is only possible from the position of the shepherd -- from the position of leadership...
"We have already won. We are already leading the Jewish nation in Israel towards the Jewish political horizon. For the first time in the history of the State of Israel, the Jewish nation has been given the right to vote for a Jewish State, the right to be itself. Even if the majority prefer to remain in the prison cell of the current consciousness, even if the majority will still not make use of the key to freedom that we are offering it, from this moment on the key lies in its hands.
"There will be elections again in another year or two, and then the Jewish nation will make use of the key and choose leadership that expresses its nature, Jewish Leadership. The victory at that time will be a result of the current internal victory..."
