IDF Intelligence Chief Maj.-Gen. Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash says that if the government continues to ignore American "renovations" on its Road Map plan, it will prove damaging to Israel. Farkash sent a letter to Prime Minister Sharon, Defense Minister Mofaz, and Foreign Minister Netanyahu last week, in which he wrote that full and thorough attention must be paid to the plan, because on Dec. 20 the U.S. is planning to submit the final draft to the Quartet. Foreign Ministry sources sounded the same warning. Sharon does not want to give Israel's formal response to the plan until after the elections and what he assumes will be his establishment of a new government. The Americans are pushing the plan so that a Palestinian state be established as soon as possible. One of its first demands is a total freeze on Jewish construction in Yesha - though Arabs would be permitted to build freely.
