A poll commissioned by Israel's left-wing daily newspaper Ha'aretz shows that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has opened up a 17-point lead over Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the race for the Likud Party leadership. The poll was released last night, just a week before Likud members will vote who will head the party in the national Knesset elections slated for the end of January. In addition, the survey claims that that the majority - 56 percent - of Likud Party members prefer a national unity government with Labor to a narrow right-wing coalition.
