Sharon government officials are placing the blame for this morning's deadly attack solely on PLO leader Yasser Arafat and his Palestinian Authority. Government spokesman Avi Pazner told BBC television that "it is clear today that the Palestinian Authority not only isn't doing anything to stop terrorist activity, but actually is encouraging it." Prime Minister Sharon has called for an emergency Security Cabinet meeting for 2PM.
MK Tzvi Hendel (National Union Party ) says that the blame for this morning's attacks, and the thousands before it, lays with the government. He said that, "those who stubbornly refuse to oust the PLO bear responsibility for the continuing terror attacks and the hundreds of Israeli citizens that continue to be murdered." He added that, "any prime minister who refuses to oust the PLO and instead commits to giving a sovereign state to Terror cannot escape his responsibility!"
The Manhigut Yehudit ('Jewish Leadership Movement') faction of the Likud renewed its call to eliminate the chief murderer, Arafat and his partners in terror, as well as to arrest and bring to trial those behind this morning's bombing. Manhigut Yehudit also extended its condolences to the bereaved families, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
