"Together we'll be victorious over the Likud" was the message delivered by newly appointed Labor Party Chairman Amram Mitzna last night from his victory podium at party headquarters. Mitzna won a decisive victory in yesterday's primaries, bringing in 53.9 percent of the vote. Former Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer was runner-up with 38.17 percent of the vote, with MK Chaim Ramon finishing in third with only 7.24 percent. Unity was the theme of Mitzna's victory speech as he called on both Ben-Eliezer and Ramon to join him on stage. Mitzna said that "starting from tomorrow morning, we are all one, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand...not in separate camps but in only large camp of Labor party representatives." Despite Mitzna's optimism, polls predict that the Likud party will thrash Labor in the upcoming Knesset elections at the end of January.
