Over 100,000 Labor Party members are expected to visit the 269 polling stations across the country today to choose their new chairman. Polls indicate that Haifa Mayor Amram Mitzna will emerge victorious over his opponents: former Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, and MK Chaim Ramon. The winner of today's primaries could potentially become Israel's next Prime Minister should the Labor Party receive the majority of votes in the upcoming national Knesset election at the end of January. However, the polls currently indicate that the Likud party will dominate in the elections, and thus send its top representative to the Prime Minister's office.
