It is not a lack of political parties to choose from, because we have enough of those. And even though each party has its own leader, nothing has changed--for the better, that is-- in the last 20+ years.
The political right has a serious problem. All, and I mean all, of the leaders in this group know what to say. They have the sound-bites down pat. They know all the issues that concern us. Some add G-d in the equation, others
Some refuse to give up one inch, others will give up kilometers.
leave G- out. Some refuse to give up one inch, others will give up kilometers.
Unfortunately, all they ever do is talk. From Shamir, Sharon and Olmert, to Levin, Hotoveli, Lieberman, Orbach, et al, they all know exactly what we want to hear. But none of them is willing to act in any way on their positions. None of them will do any more than talk. Even Feiglin, who may be the biggest talker of them all, is also the one least likely to ever act in any way.
Israel needs a real leader. A real leader who is more than hot air. A real leader who has a red line, any red line. A leader who knows that when the red line is crossed, the time to talk is over, and the time to act is crucial.
A leader who can state what his red line is and be ready to back it up.
It is truly sad, that of all our present day leaders, not only do none have a red line, none have any interest in doing anything more than promising people everything they want to hear, and then when elected (those lucky enough – Feiglin is still praying) they become no different than the Livnis and Baraks.
I have personally asked the most vocal and most determined of those politicians on the right if they have a red line on anything, and have been told very simply and clearly that they have none. Did you hear me? NONE!
With this kind of leadership, we are in serious trouble.
Until someone appears on the political stage that does have a red line and that is credible as well, we might as well step away from politics altogether and just pray for the Messiach.
The alternative will be repeated disappointment and frustrations. We know that feeling all too well.
