Over 1000 Israelis gathered in Hevron last night, to take part in a vigil at the site of Friday's night's attack that left 12 Israelis dead. Several members of Knesset including Moledet Party head Rabbi Benny Elon and National Union Party member Yuri Stern addressed the crowd. During the emotional event, it was announced that a startup Jewish neighborhood would be erected on the murder site, in order to link Hevron with neighboring Kiryat Arba.



The 12 Israelis murdered in the attack have been identified. Nine of the people killed were members of Israel's security establishment, while three of the victims were members of Kiryat Arba's emergency response team.



The soldiers killed were IDF Col. Dror Wienberg,38,the most senior officer killed since the start of the Oslo war more than two years ago, IDF Lt. Dan Cohen, 22, IDF Sgt. Igor Drobitsky, 20, and Cpl. David Marcus, 20.



The Border Policemen who died were First-Sgt. Yishayahu Davidov, 20, Sgt. Tomer Nov, 19, Sgt. Gad Rahamim, 19, First-Sgt. Netanel Machluf, 19, First-Sgt. Yishayahu Davidov, 20, and Ch.-Supt. Samih Sweidan, 31. Kiryat Arba residents Yitzchak Bueinish, 46, Alex, Tsvitman, 26, and Alex Doko, 33 were the emergency-crew members killed.



Ch.-Supt. Samih Sweidan was laid to rest yesterday in the military cemetery of the Beduin village of Idmit, in the western Galilee. Nine other victims will be buried today. The three Kiryat Arba emergency-unit workers will be buried in a military ceremony in a civilian cemetery. Eleven Israelis wounded in the attack remain hospitalized with four in serious condition.
