Although the subject has been discussed many times within the secular government circle, it has never been looked at, to my knowledge, within the context of the Tanach. The point of discussion is not who within the

secular sphere initiated the discussion, but why they even entertain it. Furthermore, to have the conversation to begin with allows our enemies to add more fuel to their fire of exposing our "unrighteousness" or our "human rights violations."

Why allow evil to come into our midst? As Jeremiah states in 1:14-16:

"HaShem said to me, From the North the evil will be released upon all the inhabitants of the land. For behold, I am calling all the families of the kingdoms of the North - the word of HaShem - and they shall come and each of them shall place his throne at the entrance of Jerusalem's gates and by all its walls roundabout, and by all the cities of Judah I shall pronounce My judgments against [Judah] for all their evil, for they have forsaken Me and burned incense to the gods of others and prostrated themselves to their own handiwork."

Who would want to offer "strange incense" to HaShem and be oblivious to its consequences? The only explanation would be in Jeremiah 6:10: "To whom shall I speak and warn, that they will take heed? Behold, their ear is blocked and they are unable to listen! Behold, the word of HaShem has become an object of ridicule to them; they have no desire for it."

The obstinacy of the secular sector is equivalent to the obstinacy of the sons of Korach. There is a total disregard for any consequences that might befall them. Their "offering" was similar to the "incense" offering, as was noted in Jeremiah. In Korach's case, the entire assembly was affected (Numbers16:5ff) and could not escape the impending judgment of HaShem. The prophet Jeremiah was instructed by HaShem not to intercede for Jerusalem, "And you [Jeremiah] do not pray for this people; do not speak up for them with a cry and a prayer, and do not entreat Me, for I will not listen to you." (7:16) Further on, in chapter 8, Jeremiah elaborates more judgment, "At that time - the word of HaShem - they (the invading enemy) will remove the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its leaders, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of Jerusalem's inhabitants from their graves." (8:1)

If the powers that be would only see a fraction of the text of Tanach in its context and choose not to go forward with their "peace" agenda for Jerusalem, then they might be spared the impending sentence from HaShem; however, in all likelihood, we will not see that happen, "But HaShem has said: Because of their forsaking My Torah that I put before them; moreover, they did not heed My voice nor follow it. They followed the vision of their heart and [they followed] the Baalim, as their fathers taught them." (9:12,13)

We need to continue to follow in the steps of Torah, Tanach and mitzvot.

Our question is: What is their continuing vision that will remain? We should shudder as we contemplate the thought of their own agenda. If they indeed have forsaken the words of the Torah and substituted idol worship in the Torah's place, then the consequences are too numerous to mention within the context of this article. Our answers lie within the Tanach, the Gemara, and other sources that go on to elaborate what will befall the present leaders, if this is what they truly believe in their hearts. All that we can do is plead with HaShem so the leaders that be would do Tshuvah.

We need to continue to follow in the steps of Torah, Tanach and mitzvot, and not let our eyes stray to their "vision" that appears to have an "easy" solution. Our vision should be much stronger, in order to combat the many chilulei HaShem that have been released as a result of their contagious vision. It appears an awesome task; however, it is absolutely essential in order for us as a people to survive the deceptions being perpetrated by our enemies. Only within these parameters can an undivided Jerusalem continue to exist. The ice that we are walking on may appear to continue to melt, but we must persevere, with HaShem's help, and not compromise our beliefs, so that we reap the benefit of HaShem's blessings in the World-to-Come.
